7 Elite Academy will throw open its doors to disadvantaged children from across Salt Lake City at a Christmas Community Tournament in West Jordan on Saturday morning.

The event at 7EA's indoor facility is a FREE way for youngsters who don't currently have the opportunity to participate in club soccer to kick off the start of the festive season.

Young people (aged 8-14) from various communities in the city will join academy coaches for a fun soccer competition, featuring food, music and merchandise giveaways.

Players will also receive a 7 Elite Academy t-shirt as part of the event, which will run from 10am to 12pm. Registration is 9.30am.

Anthony Godfrey, 7 Elite Academy Technical Director, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone connected with 7EA to come together and help disadvantaged children to celebrate Christmas.

“I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown not only by our staff, by also by local businesses in getting this tournament off the ground

“There will be fun games for children to play in a warm, safe and secure environment, as well as great food and music to generate a real party atmosphere.

“Not every young person in Salt Lake City has the chance to sample our facilities, so this is a great way to bring the entire 7 Elite Academy community together.”

7 Elite Academy coaches from Salt Lake City will be present at the event, while older 7EA players will help coach and officiate games.

The playing format of the tournament will be an open street soccer style to ensure participation for all of those in attendance.

Wayne Scholes Chief Executive at 7 Elite Academy, said: “Every year, we do our very best to help disadvantaged children from across the city enjoy Christmas in the best way possible.

“By giving them a fun morning of soccer, music and food at our indoor facility, we hope we can continue this fine tradition. It is going to be a great event!

“Our staff have worked so hard over the last few weeks to make this tournament as much fun as possible, alongside some kind generosity from local businesses. I want to thank them all.

“Many of our players have also been kind enough to volunteer their time to help out, so this will be something for everyone to enjoy and learn from.”
