7 Elite Academy's 06 Girls will be urged to “make lifelong memories” when they compete for a coveted spot at the US National Finals during the Far West President's Cup in California later this year.

The Ogden youngsters sealed a place at the regional competition in June with a stunning 2-0 victory over Cima FC at the Utah President's Cup in Mesquite - their second such title in as many years.

That win followed an equally impressive run during the early stages of the tournament, when they scored five times in four games and recorded a shutout in every match.

And with a trip to July's US National Finals in Las Vegas up for grabs, they will travel to Norco, California, high on confidence - but coach Jake Reed wants his girls to savour the experience.

He said: “I am so proud of how this team competed at the Utah President's Cup, from our fantastic goalkeeper and defenders, all the way through to our equally talented forwards.

“Every single player has earned the right to test themselves against the best players in our region during the Far West President's Cup in California. It is going to be a fantastic experience.

“I want them all to make lifelong memories during the tournament and take away experiences that will live with them far beyond their time with 7 Elite Academy.

“It's credit to the players' commitment, hard work and talent that they have made it this far. This team has the ability to go all the way in Norco and then do the same at the National Finals.”

Victory in Mesquite last month is the latest in a series of state, regional and national tournament wins for 7 Elite Academy, including US National Title success for the organisation's 01 Boys in 2018.

7 Elite Academy Global Technical Director, Anthony Godfrey, said: “It is a fantastic achievement for our 06 Girls to have won the Utah President's Cup, especially with such an impressive record.

“This gives them the chance to compete against teams from across the Far West in June, with the target being qualification for the national tournament.

“They are a perfect example of how hard work, determination and talent can bring success, both on and off the pitch. We are all so proud of them.

“Jake and his team of coaches have worked incredibly hard to give the girls the best chance of making the most of this opportunity.”
