7 Elite Academy will put player safety at the forefront of proceedings when tryouts for the upcoming season get under way in Utah next week.
The youth soccer organisation, which coaches hundreds of players in the United States, United Kingdom and Africa, rolled out a comprehensive package of support for players during Covid-19 restrictions.
This included a weekly Home Technical Program of remote training, Masterclass sessions with professional players and coaches, regular team meetings via Zoom and online one-to-one sessions.
Existing 7 Elite Academy players in Utah will automatically be offered a place in next season's teams, in a bid to protect the mental health of youngsters who have missed crucial team-building time with colleagues.
And with tryouts set to start in Saint George from May 26th, strict social distancing guidelines will be followed to ensure players are protected from possible transmission of Covid-19.
Daren Woolstenhume, CEO of 7 Elite Academy, said: “The most important thing, above all else, is the safety of players taking part in tryouts. That is our number one priority and will not change.
“Restrictions in Utah have been lifted to 'Yellow level', meaning we can now hold tryouts, but we will be going over and above those rules to protect everyone who takes part. That is the responsible thing to do.
“We will make sure there are no groups of people at tryout locations, face masks will be worn where appropriate, all attendees will have to use hand gel and anyone who displays symptoms will not be able to attend.
“Existing 7 Elite Academy players can attend tryouts for free and will be automatically offered a place for next season. That will help those who might be worrying about having missed out during Covid-19 restrictions.”
Tryouts in the Saint George area will start on May 26th, while sessions in Davis/Salt Lake/Utah/Weber County areas begin on June 8th for younger age groups and on June 15th for older age groups.
Anthony Godfrey, Global Technical Director at 7 Elite Academy, expects players and parents to follow the organization's responsible approach towards Covid-19 restrictions.
He said: “From the very start of the pandemic, we have sought to make sure our players across the world are safe while following our Home Technical Program and other innovations.
“The responsible attitude of everyone connected with 7 Elite Academy has been a source of pride for us all and I look forward to that continuing during tryouts in Utah.
“Of course, we all want to get back to training and playing games against other clubs, and this is a huge step towards that goal. But we won't do that at the expense of player safety.
“As an organization, we have worked incredibly hard to develop a plan of action that will enable our young people to enjoy the game that we all love.
“That plan will be rolled out at the appropriate time at our locations in the United States, United Kingdom and Africa, while all the time following local restrictions.”
