7 Elite Academy has recruited Brigham Young University Men’s Soccer coach Brandon Gilliam as the organization’s new Goalkeeper trainer.

Gilliam spent five years playing semi-professional soccer for BYU and enjoyed a period as the number one goalkeeper for goals against in the PDL.

He joins 7 Elite Academy at a key point in the organization’s expansion, as it looks to increase the number of players and staff at well-established locations in the United States, United Kingdom, and Africa.

The current Director of BetterGoalkeeping for 15 years, who coached the USA Team at the 2017 World University Games in Taiwan, is looking forward to getting started.

He said: “I have heard a lot of very good things about 7 Elite Academy from players, parents, and staff about the commitment to player development, both within soccer and life in general.

“I am very eager to meet the players and start using my experience to guide them through their development as goalkeepers. It is my goal to make sure every goalkeeper is moving forward in progression and achieving their potential.

“As a college coach, I want to help youth players recognize and understand that the decisions they are making now have a great influence on their future.

“There is no doubt that within a rich and diverse youth soccer community in Utah, 7 Elite Academy has the opportunity to stand out with exceptional staff and curriculum that can develop amazing soccer players and individuals."

7 Elite Academy Head of Youth Development, Shaylee Wilson, is delighted to have secured Gilliam’s services.

She said: “Brandon has an excellent reputation across youth soccer in Utah, so it is very exciting for us all that he has decided work with 7 Elite Academy.

“His experience within the grassroots game will bring so many good ideas to our goalkeeper training sessions, across all age groups.

“It is no secret that we seek to create a long-term learning curriculum for every young person at 7 Elite Academy and Brandon has the depth of knowledge to expand on that.

“As we look to continue our expansion in the United States, United Kingdom and Africa, Brandon will be a key part of our exciting plans going forward.”
