Highly experienced football coach Chris Owens has joined 7 Elite Academy as a goalkeeping specialist.

Owens, who works with top-flight football clubs across the world, will work with 7 Elite Academy players in the United Kingdom, United States and Tanzania.

He has coached 7 Elite Academy youngsters on a number of previous occasions, including masterclass sessions in Liverpool and Utah.

7 Elite Academy has secured partnerships with Coaching Connexions and AFC Liverpool this year, allowing players from across the world to train and study in the region.

Former Liverpool and England footballer Stephen Warnock has also joined the organization as ambassador, alongside Tanzania captain Mbwana Samatta.

Academy Director Anthony Godfrey believes Owens' arrival will further expand the prospects of young people within 7 Elite Academy.

He said: “Chris has a great track record of working with players at all levels and will be a fantastic addition to our coaching line-up in the UK, USA and Africa.

“We have some great professional coaching staff in all our global academy locations, so Chris's arrival will further the opportunities we can offer our young people.

“Our players in Liverpool and Utah benefitted massively from his masterclass sessions, so it was a very easy decision to bring him on board. I can't wait to see him continue that work and bring further benefits to our players.”

Owens has joined the academy on a part-time basis and will continue his work with Liverpool Football club and other coaching organisations.

He said: “I have known many of the coaches and especially Ant (Anthony Godfrey) at 7 Elite Academy for some time and they all have a high level of professionalism that is mirrored at top-level clubs.

“It is exciting to see the work that 7 Elite Academy is doing with young people across the world and I can't wait be part of their coaching team and work closely with all the 7 Elite GK coaches around the world.

“The coaching staff do a fantastic job of working with youngsters to maximise their potential and it will be an honour to join them in my new role.”
