7 Elite Academy Head of Youth Development Shaylee Wilson praised the technical ability on show when she coached female players from the Tanzanian National Team in Dar es Salaam.

Last week’s trip saw Wilson hold training sessions with women’s professional club SIMBA Queens FC, who are defending Tanzanian Women’s Premier League champions.

The SIMBA Queens squad includes 15 Tanzanian National Team members, alongside several fringe players, and is considered to be the country’s leading women’s team.

7 Elite Academy runs football programmes with professional coaches for thousands of players across the world, including East Africa, United Kingdom and United States.

Wilson, who runs 7 Elite Academy’s Youth Development Phase, said: “This trip was a fantastic opportunity to work some brilliant players at SIMBA FC, so we could learn from each other.

“It is clear to see why so many of their players have been chosen by the Tanzania National Team. It was great to see how they train, especially after they won the Premier League this year.

“The coaching staff at SIMBA FC couldn’t have been more helpful and everyone was keen to follow my sessions. I have a lot of new ideas for when training resumes in the United States after Christmas.”

The trip was also an opportunity for Wilson to hold training sessions with 7 Elite Academy Tanzania’s boys teams, who train at a dedicated facility in Dar es Salaam.

“The 7 Elite Academy boys in Tanzania have great ability in all areas of the game,” she added.

“Their coaches, Thomas Morris and Amri Kiemba, are two of the biggest names in Tanzanian soccer and the players clearly benefit from that experience.

“I had session plans that I wanted to run through and every single player was happy to work hard in those sessions. It is clear that they want to succeed, both as players and young people.”
