The 7 Elite Pre-Academy Jamboree will be an integral part of this year’s record-breaking International Tournament – and there’s still time for younger players to join in the fun.

The main 7 Elite Academy International Tournament, which has attracted a record 184 teams so far, will cater for 2012 to 2002 players in Saint George and Washington City from February 4th to 6th.

But youngsters in the 2013 to 2016 age groups can take part in a special Pre-Academy jamboree on February 6th, where games will be run on a shorter format with an emphasis on fun for all.

Players are guaranteed a minimum of four games each at Little Valley Soccer Complex in Saint George, with a limit of seven players per team and no goalkeepers.

Matt Brown, 7 Elite Pre-Academy Manager, said: “It is wonderful that younger players can be part of such a special tournament this year.

“The fact that we’ve got a record number of teams for the main tournament will add to the unique atmosphere when the Pre-Academy Jamboree kicks off on February 6th.

“We are offering a fun and supportive environment for players who take part, while also giving a taste of being involved in competitive games with teams on similar ability levels.

“It is so important that as they grow and develop, younger players are given the opportunity to be part of major competitions like this year’s 7 Elite Academy International Tournament.

“We’ve designed the Pre-Academy Jamboree to give youngsters that experience, while keeping the key element of fun that helps to inspire a love for soccer.”

Teams from across Utah and Nevada have signed up for the Pre-Academy Jamboree, with more from further afield expected to join ahead of the registration deadline on January 17th.

Food and entertainment options will be available throughout the event and youngsters will be able to watch games featuring older age groups in the main tournament.

“I am so grateful to local authorities in Saint George and Washington City for their hard work in helping us plan this year’s Jamboree,” Brown added.

“It’s been a difficult twelve months for the youth soccer community and beyond, so to have a fully-functioning event is a great achievement from everyone involved.

“Now we have everything in place, I want as many youngsters as possible to enjoy the games and just as importantly, develop their love of soccer.”
