The first week of 7 Elite Academy tryouts has been declared a “huge success” after record-breaking numbers of young people took part in Saint George.

The opening days saw over 400 young people of all ages register for tryout sessions at Little Valley Fields – beating previous years by a considerable margin.

Tryouts for the academy, which also runs teams in the UK and Africa, now move north to the Davis / Weber / Salt Lake and Utah counties for the next two weeks.

Daren Woolstenhulme, CEO of 7 Elite Academy, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the numbers of young people wanting to join us in Saint George throughout the last week.

“It has been a huge success so far and with numbers also growing for the next two weeks, we are expecting similar numbers to try out for our teams in the rest of Utah.

“The youth soccer community in Saint George has been so supportive of us during tryouts and we’ve seen some fantastic players, both existing and new.

“That means the future of our teams is extremely bright, especially with so many new young people wanting to be part of 7 Elite Academy.”

7 Elite Academy’s professional soccer coaches are USSF and UEFA qualified, with a number of A-Licence coaches running training sessions on a weekly basis.

Players who are successful at tryouts are given regular support in personal and educational development, as well as opportunities to travel and train overseas.

Stuart Dewey, Southern Utah Technical Program Manager, said: “The quality of players who attended tryouts in Saint George was higher than ever and I am delighted about that.

“It shows that the hard work of our coaches, parents and above all players is paying off, which is something we can all be proud of.

“The fact that we had over 400 young people attend shows the strength of youth soccer in Southern Utah and the potential to grow the game even more in this region.

“I am looking forward to seeing all our teams continue to develop and thrive next season, throughout the age groups.”

Tryout sessions in the Davis / Weber / Salt Lake and Utah counties will resume on Monday and run through the age groups until June 4th.
