More teams than ever are signing up for the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament – and the 2022 event is set to be the biggest yet.

The first four months of registrations has far outstripped the 2021 total at the same point, which ended with a record 198 teams taking part in earlier this year.

Next year’s event takes place from February 3rd to 5th in Southern Utah and Nevada, with several out of state teams already registered.

A number of international teams are also gearing up for the competition.

Wayne Scholes, Chairman of 7 Elite Academy, is anticipating another all-time high number of registrations when the action gets under way.

He said: “It is so exciting that with under two months still to go until the tournament starts, we are so far ahead of last year’s registration total at the same point.

“We have a carefully planned expansion of our venues to handle the additional numbers and show off the very best of Utah’s youth soccer community.

“This year’s tournament will feature all-new branding and merchandise options, as well as day-long entertainment at all venues and food for all tastes.

“We will also have numerous college scouts taking a look at the games.”

Brackets for the tournament range from Pre-Academy Jamboree through to Under-19, with a number of ability groups to allow for closer parity.

Penalty shoot-outs will again be held at the end of all group stage games, while top-class officials will take charge throughout.

Nick Nield, Tournament Director, said: “We are all working hard to prepare for the 2022 tournament, so to see the registrations running so high is fantastic.

“The key is that in our fifth year, we have the experience to create a spectacular event that will live long in the memory of players and their families.

“We’ve looked at every single aspect of previous tournaments to make sure we make improvements across the board.

“Youth soccer here in Utah is so strong and we want to show that off to the world. With international teams aiming to attend, competition will be stronger than ever.

“The venues in Saint George, Washington City and Mesquite are some of the very best available and will allow players to show what they’re really capable of.”
