The 7 Elite Academy International Tournament has smashed even more records after over 260 teams registered to take part next month.

This year’s total beats the 2021 record line-up of 198 teams, confirming its place as the fastest-growing youth soccer event in the region.

The action gets under way in Saint George and Mesquite from February 3rd to 5th, with players and coaches from across the world due to take part.

Teams in the Under-9 to Under-19 brackets will take part in the main tournament, alongside a Pre-Academy jamboree for younger players.

Nick Nield, Tournament Co-Ordinator, is looking forward to watching the games after registration was closed early due to high numbers.

He said: “We started work for this year’s tournament just days after the 2021 event finished and all that team effort has certainly paid off.

“To beat last year’s record total by such a huge margin is brilliant news and confirms our place as one of the leading tournaments in the region.

“I can’t wait to see the first games kick off and we can celebrate the very best that youth soccer has to offer in Utah, Nevada and the surrounding states.

“We have some brilliant teams taking part and every single game will be hotly contested. The quality of soccer will be higher than ever.”

All-day entertainment will be on offer, as will food options to cater for a variety of tastes.

The tournament is expected to attract interest from college recruiters, with teams set to bring top-flight rosters.

Wayne Scholes, Chairman of 7 Elite Academy, said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to break even more records for our 2022 event.

“7 Elite Academy has a fine reputation for offering world-class opportunities to players and that is reflected in the growth of our tournament.

“This will be a great chance for talented youngsters to step into the spotlight and make a big impression for their future prospects.

“I can’t remember another tournament that has promised such great competition in every single game.”
