World-renowned artist Lazarus Kufakunesu will hold a sale of unique hand-made sculptures, artwork and furniture from South Africa as a fundraising event for 7 Elite Academy’s SABA teams.

Lazarus, who runs a community project in the Kwa Zulu Natal region, has created a series of one-off pieces that will be sold at 7 Elite Academy’s indoor training facility in West Jordan.

From his base in South Africa, Lazarus uses scrap metal and other reclaimed items to create unique steampunk art, stone and metal sculptures that are shipped to customers across the world.

On July 1st to 3rd, customers in Utah will have a one-off opportunity to buy Lazarus’ artwork direct at a reduced rate - raising funds for 7 Elite Academy’s SABA program.

Players who join 7 Elite SABA receive a package of high quality training, college tours and foreign tournaments that are designed to maximise college application opportunities.

Wayne Scholes, Chairman of 7 Elite Academy, said: “Lazarus’s team of professional artists create wonderful, bespoke items that are designed to inspire and look absolutely stunning in any setting.

“The items are created using recycled materials in South Africa, so as well as helping our SABA teams, this sale will be putting much-needed funds into those communities.

“In addition to brilliant artwork, his team produces high quality outdoor furniture using exactly the same methods. That means every piece is a one-off that will truly stand out.

“We are very lucky to have Lazarus supporting our SABA teams, and he is very keen to show his work to the people of Utah. This a great opportunity to buy artwork and furniture at a rate far lower than any commercial outlet.”

Using with angle grinders, a welding machine and hand tools, Kufakunesu and his team of artists turn scrap metal into art, letting the materials dictate the details.

Amongst the items on sale will be metal sculptures, stonework, outdoor furniture and artwork. The sale will be held at 3570 W Galaxy Park Pl. West Jordan, from July 1st to 3rd. Opening times will be 9am to 8pm.

Lazarus, who makes use of car parts, oil drums, and horseshoes - to name a few - creates contemporary designs with a classic look, as well as furniture and stonework.

Previous items include an 800kg “Harley-Davidson” sculpture, aeroplane and a train on tracks.

He said: “I am very excited that my team’s artwork will be available to people in Utah. From our community in South Africa, we have worked very hard to create these timeless items.

“I want as many people as possible to enjoy our artwork and see how we can make the biggest impact from recycled materials and other items. This is huge opportunity to show the world our work.

“Wayne has told me all about the SABA teams and how hard they work in terms of playing soccer and securing the best college applications. I want to play a part in making these young people’s dreams come true.”
