Teams have been urged to sign up for the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament as soon as possible, with registrations currently double the number of this time last year.

The 2023 tournament will be held in Washington City and Mesquite on February 2nd to 4th, with more teams than ever from across the USA set to take part.

The popular youth soccer competition hosts teams from Pre-Academy through to Under-18 levels, alongside entertainment and food options for families.

A record 270 teams took part in the 2022 event in Southern Utah and Nevada, and current numbers are well ahead of registrations seen during the build-up to that tournament.

That suggests the record for next year’s tournament will be smashed weeks before the registration deadline in January - leading to calls for teams to secure their place in the next few weeks.

Nick Nield, Tournament Director, said: “We have seen a massive uptick in registrations over previous years, so we want to make sure teams have everything in place as soon as they can.

“In particular, we have seen more teams from outside of Utah make contact, so the 2023 tournament will present many more playing styles than in previous years.

“We are looking forward to once again breaking the record for registration and showing the world the great soccer and facilities our region has to offer. It is going to be very exciting for us all.”

The tournament features top-class referees from across the United States and United Kingdom, as well as penalty shoot-outs at the end of each game for an extra point.

Anthony Godfrey, 7 Elite Academy Global Director, is looking forward to seeing wider mix of teams and coaching methods than ever when the action starts next year.

He said: “It is great news that so many more clubs are registering for the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament, which is one the highlights of calendar.

“Clubs that attended last year, especially from out of state, have recognised the high quality of our event and will be bringing more teams from across their age groups to take part.

“That serves to create an exciting combination of new challenges. Every game will be a big test for players, who will likely be facing teams they have’t played before. I can’t wait for it to start.”
