7 Elite Academy Tournament: Day One

The 7 Elite Academy International Tournament burst into action with a spectacular opening day of action in Saint George, Washington and Mesquite.

The three-day youth soccer event - which runs until Saturday evening - has attracted a record number of players from across the United States, with over 350 teams taking part.

Organisers have brought in top officials from the UK and USA to take charge of games, while there is all-day entertainment and food provided at the main venues.

The big winners on day one included 7 Elite SABA’s 04 Boys, who scored twice during their opening encounter in Saint George, while Saratoga Springs 2013 Boys struck five times in Mesquite.

Utah Rio 2012 Boys were on the scoresheet six times in their first game and Utah Celtic 20904 Boys edged their first game of the tournament 3-2.

On the Girls half of the draw, 7 Elite Academy’s 2010 Girls Red ended the first day with a 2-0victory, while Cottonwood 2010 Girls Red scored a remarkable seven times.

Ignite FC’s 09 Girls chalked up four in goals in their opening match - a feat eclipsed by United FC 08 Girls, who troubled the scorers five times.

The action continues on Friday morning with games at all venues, before final day on Saturday in Mesquite, Saint George and Washington.
