Stephen Warnock will be part of the coaching team when 7 Elite Academy Tryouts get under way in Southern Utah, with the opening sessions just four weeks away.

The former Liverpool and England defender, who is now a respected announcer on BBC, Sky Sports and NBC, will be at tryout sessions in Washington from May 15-18.

He will work alongside 7 Elite Academy’s line-up of award-winning coaches at Sullivan Soccer Complex to identify the best talent for next season’s teams in the Pre-Academy to Under-19 age groups.

Demand for places is expected to be extremely high, following a record attendance of over 350 teams at the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament in February.

And Stephen is relishing the opportunity to see for himself the development of youth soccer talent in Southern Utah.

He said: “The pace of development gets better every year in Saint George and that is down to the hard work of the players themselves and the coaching team.

“Standards are consistently rising and we know that with this being a World Cup year, there will be a lot of extra interest. I am looking forward to being involved.

“Tryouts are a great way of seeing where we stand as an academy and how we can find more ways to help young people make the most of their potential within soccer.

“Players are rightly looking for the best soccer club that fits their ambitions and we want to make sure they can make the most of the opportunities we offer.”

7 Elite Academy offers weekly coaching with USSF, UEFA and English FA qualified coaches, attendance at the best college showcase events and opportunities to train with professional academies in the UK.

Tryouts take place at Sullivan Soccer Complex on May 15 - 18, before moving on to the Salt Lake County, Davis/Weber and Utah County regions from May 22 - June 3.

Stuart Dewey, Head of Coaching for 7 Elite Academy in Southern Utah, is looking forward to welcoming more players from Saint George and Washington.

He said: “We have seen so many great young people develop with us over the last few years and that is reflected in the number of new players who join every season.

“The coaching team here works hard to offer a welcoming and competitive environment that tests players and brings out the best of their ability every week.

“That is what makes us stand out in this region. Our program runs from Pre Academy through to Under-19, and we make sure players are challenged in every single session.

“Having Stephen here is always great for everyone, from the players to the coaches and even the parents. His experience in the English Premier League adds so much to every tryout session.

“This is a very exciting for us all as an academy.”

Anyone who registers for tryouts during April will be entered into a weekly draw to win a $50 prize from the new 7 Elite Academy online store. Click here for more information.
